Listing Notes
The house has charm and character like no other house on the street. It was built in 1908 by the Italian stonemasons that this area is known for (Little Italy). The wood trim throughout the downstairs is chestnut, and you won't find it anywhere with the exception of houses that were built prior to 1920. Most people painted over the woodwork, and this house was no exception. It was a two year process to strip the paint and bring back the natural wood, which is a large part o the charm. The floors are southern heart pine throughout the house. The stairs and mantel were stripped of their varnish and refinished, as well. All the nooks and crannies and holes here and there are all part of its character from three owners past. Depending upon the time of day, each room gets a great deal of light. The front porch is a favorite place anytime of day and great for pre-festival gatherings. The roses in the backyard are spectacular at the beginning of June. The whites (Boleros) on either side of the red smell amazing. The ones on the opposite side have an amazing peach/red color. The hydrangea in the back left corner of the yard will bloom in August. In between the roses on the right side of the patio is a Korean Spice Viburnum that blooms in early April and smells great.
